The first FineWaters Summit was held in conjunction with the third Water Tasting Competition in Guangzhou, China from June 14 to 16. The Fine Water Society was found in 2008 to create a global forum and to enhance the visibility of Fine Water. It also conveys the idea that water is not just water but a natural product with terroir and unique characteristics. On the first day of the summit foremost chocolatier Peter Svenningsen from Denmark gave a presentation on ‘Water for Chocolate, Premium Water as Ingredient’ and had a chocolate tasting session. One of the participants said “the chocolate was extra soft and creamy when they used premium water Roi from Slovenia, Svalbaroi from Norway and Iskilde from Denmark”. In the afternoon water sommelier, Hanuel Kim from South Korea talked about ‘Fine Water in Korea’. On the last day of the summit renowned water sommeliers, Gotz Graeber, Haneul Kim and John Zhu discussed about water sommelier certifications in Germany, Korea and China. This year’s water tasting competition had 104 entries in the various categories. There were four categories in still water section, two categories in sparking and lastly design awards. This year Deeps from South Korea won the gold medal in Exotic Sources category of still water.
